PERSONAL

D.O.B. 30th October 1948.
I grew up in the Pennine dales of North Yorkshire.
I enjoy reading natural world and science fiction. I have developed a large collection of books of many genres.
Currently, my main hobby and spare time is taken up building a Cobra replica.
My home computer has helped me break into the latest technology.
I have two grown up children a daughter with a degree in history and a son with an HND in Business studies.
I hold a full drivers licence and also a Class 1 HGV licence.

1959-1964 Attended, Barnard Castle Secondary Modern School.
Gained,
Northern counties examination, seven subjects including Math’s and English.

1964-1974 Attended, Darlington College of Technology.
Gained,
City and Guilds of London Institute;
Motor Vehicle Mechanics Certificate,
Motor Vehicle Technicians Certificate,
The Institute of the Motor Industry, Finals Examination Certificate,
The Institute of Road Transport Engineers examination Section C part II Certificate. Having passed these exams allows me professional memberships M.I.M.I., A.M.I.R.T.E. and A.M.S.O.E.,
I have also been on several manufactures weekly and monthly courses.

1992-2000 Attended, Bedford College.
Several electrical courses:
AC & DC Electrical Competence, Panel Fault Finding, Electrical Installation and covered the 16th edition electrical requirements.

May 2007 Attended, Kiel, Germany.
Engine course at the MaK-Caterpillar factory.

EMPLOYMENT

04/06 to Date Manager Mechanical,
PSSquared, Weybridge, Surrey.

Employed in Burkina Faso looking after the Power House Mechanical infrastructure at the Somita gold mine near Taparko. Duties are to oversee the commissioning of and the mechanical maintenance and repairs of the MaK 6CM32C and Caterpillar 3516 HV generators and the associated controls and switch gear. Formerly working from the UK office where the duties entailed the testing, service, repairs and installation of generators, switchgear, distribution panels and transformers. The customer coverage is from the smallest distribution boards at 240 Volts to switchgear, generators and transformers to 11,000 Volts. The duties have also entailed working in Western Africa on several mine sites to put together there own generator powerhouses.

04/05 to 04/06 Freelance Generator Engineer,
Self Employed working exclusively for PSSquared, Weybridge, Surrey.

Servicing Repairing and installing Generators, AC Alternators and Switchgear. Throughout April and May Ran the Powerhouse for Wexford Goldfields at Wassa Mine, Akyempim, Ghana. Worked for Wexford Goldfields on the refurbishment of the Generators. And to install new Synchronising and Governor Control Systems for the Generators. Awaiting spares, supervised the assembly of new Cat777’s, and, Liebherr 994’s.

04/03 to 03/05 Mechanical-Electrical Technician
Boss Services, 2 Wootton Green, Bedford, MK43 9EE

Worked for two years assisting with the quotations for remedial works, installation of various electrical equipment i.e. control panels, distribution panels and the rewiring of commercial premises. The changing of the various mechanical and electrical components associated with the upkeep of buildings and their maintenance.

10/00 to 04/03 Building Maintenance Technician,
Planned Maintenance Engineering Ltd., 12-14 Lombard Road, London, SW11 3AY

Had been employed at the Deutsch Bank data control centre 24/7 sites carrying out the various task associated with building maintenance of High level IT facilities, air handling units (AHU), variable air volume (VAV), fan coil units (FCU), air conditioning units (AC), heating – ventilation (HVAC), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), UPS power distribution units (PDU’s), emergency diesel generators, lighting, power distribution, general building repairs and maintenance.

1988-10/00  Generator/Quotation Engineer,
Harath Engineering Services Limited., 41 Murdock Road, Bedford. MK41 7PQ

Having been with Harath for 11years as a generator service technician and, having acquired quite a vast knowledge of generators, the company promoted me into the office in the position of Service Quotation Engineer. My duties were to interpret the recommendations that service engineers made for the upkeep of the customers generators, and to locate the necessary spares and then to cost the works accordingly.

Former duties: Installation and commissioning of various electrical control and distribution panels. Service and repairs to diesel generators the control equipment and ancillaries associated, distribution panels, cooling towers and fuel transfer systems. The servicing and repairs to diesel and electric fire pumps, and their control equipment. Battery replacements and Mechanical repairs to Uninterruptible Power Supplies. Duties also included the retraining of new technicians and training of junior technicians.

1987-1988 TECHNICIAN & DRIVER,
EXTRA STAFF Ltd. 364 Silbury Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes.

Duties: working at various locations on temporary secondment as either a Mechanic/Technician at various workshops, also at some larger companies to strip down components, engines, gearboxes and axles for warranty investigation of the components failure. As a driver covering for holidays, various locations different types of vehicles and a multitude of different products multi drops single drops and changeover runs.

1984-1987 Diesel – Hydraulics Technician,
Trio Containers ltd. Skip loader hire company.

This entailed the fitting of skip loaders to new vehicles and also modifications to suit various sized skips, carrying out repairs to the vehicles the skip loader equipment and their hydraulics. The duties also included vehicle demonstrations at the customer’s sites.

1964-1984 PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
I served a 5 year apprenticeship in a large garage. This covered all aspects of Road vehicles HGV, PSV, Cars, Light vans, Agriculture vehicles and various types of machinery repairs. I also attended day release at college to obtain further qualifications.
After finishing my apprenticeship:
I worked for a large pharmaceutical company at their factory.
Installing, maintaining and repairing pharmaceutical packaging machinery.
I have been the supervisor of a large haulage company’s maintenance workshops.
Moved on to be the Manager at a truck main dealerships main workshop.
Started and run my own a car hire and repair business for several years.
Took up the position of inspection engineer for a local council transport department, and also assisted in the revamping of their operating methods.
